Costa Rica La Toboba
Nestled in the mountains of southern Costa Rica, La Toboba is a family-run coffee farm built on a deep respect for the land, a commitment to quality, and a continuous pursuit of improvement.
Managed by Senel Campos and his son Alan, the farm encompasses three properties: Las Huacas, Jocotes, and El Cola Roja. Their coffee trees grow in nutrient-rich soils and a distinctive microclimate shaped by the surrounding mountain canyons and the San Jeronimo River.
Located on the steep slopes near the Cataratas Don Kilo waterfall, Jocotes lies in the Brunca region, an area where coffee cultivation has become an essential part of local life since the 1950s.
Since establishing their micromill in 2014, Senel and his family have continually invested in their facilities and processing methods. Raised drying beds, greenhouse drying areas, and modern equipment allow them to carefully manage each stage of production. By monitoring parameters such as pH and Brix, they refine their approach to fermentation and drying, aiming to bring out the best in every microlot.
The farm grows a range of varieties, including Catuai, Caturra, Gesha, Obata, and Villa Sarchi, reflecting the diversity and potential of this remarkable coffee-growing region.
La Toboba is more than a coffee farm. It is a story of family, friendship, and dedication, where each harvest contributes to a long-term vision of sustainable growth and quality. Every lot reflects the care invested in the land and the people behind it, bringing a distinctive expression of Costa Rica’s Brunca region to the cup.
